Official Request JournalIn a sense, I do take requests. KEEP READING THOUGH THERE'S A CATCHI did this a while ago but I feel like I discouraged people posting certain characters, like canines, which is silly because wow some days all I want to draw is dogs. But yeah go ahead post ANY CHARACTERS here. As many as you want! Animal, human, fantasy, whatever C: If you find this entry 5 months in the future doN'T HOLD BACK (in fact i'll probably link to it at some point). I want as broad a selection as possible because I get into moods. How it works is, during those moments when I want to experiment or relax and do low-pressure art or whatever and none of my own characters are appealing to me, I refer back to journals like these and pick a character that interests me at the time. This is purely for my own entertainment so I can't make any promises that I'll get to your character, and I might play with designs a little bit (so wow don't yell at me if I use a warm grey instead of something with 0 saturation g
CONTEST TIME! WINNERSOh my gooooshhhhhh....PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS WHILE YOU READ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yy41ZKoL_cWhen I started this contest, I won't lie, I expected to get dozens of entries, but that changed after the first week when I thought I'd be stuck with like 4 entries XD So yeah, I'm pleased with the amount of entries I got and in reality I think it would have been better with only 4 entries because jeeeez it was SO hard to choose the winners, I'm sorry it's taken so long, this is how long it's been until I have decided on some clear winners. Each entry was judged on how well the character fit into its surroundings, the overall creativeness of the concept or method, and just how visually pleasing it was. Bonus points were awarded where personality was hinted or shown. Before I announce the winners, I want to let you guys know that there were more entries I would have loved to see get a placing, but I really don't have the time or points to give out any more prizes ahuidhaiiuhsdh b
MinecraftI just got Minecraft and holy hell is it addictive. I've played around with the iPhone app before (building stuff with infinite blocks with no enemies to fear), but I wasn't prepared for how addictive the full version of the game actually is.To my credit, I had a little help before starting the game by using a seed which spawned me in the middle of a NPC village, thus giving me shelter and resources to survive my first few treacherous nights. But after a few days had passed and I got used to the controls and crafting, I ventured out and built my own little hut and started digging away. The first few nights were exceptionally scary, even though I was in a nice safe house. But gradually I learned that Creepers are less creepy to me now than they are simply annoying, and I find myself being more creeped out by those ominous Ender Men.After digging a very inefficient hole near my house and gather up more resources (cobblestone) than I could handle, I decided to venture out and build a bi
Tekkit WoesAfter playing around with the Technic Pack for Minecraft in creative mode, I decided to try my hand at legitimately playing the game...Wow... it's friggin' hard. And not hard in the sense that it's difficult collecting all the various ores I need to smelt and make cool things... I mean it's hard in the sense that all these mo-creatures creatures are a royal pain in the ASS.It's one thing when you have to dig into a cave and deal with creepers, zombies, spiders, and skeleton archers... it's another entirely to have to deal with all those PLUS wearwolves, ghosts, scorpions, snakes, rats, lions, and a whole bunch of other nasty creatures. It's almost overwhelming how difficult it is to mine without getting mauled to death.I've died a lot already, and I've only been playing for 20 minutes. Tekkit is awesome, but damn... it's really HARD to do it legit.
Texas Abortion Bill FilibusterIn case you live outside the USA and haven't heard of this yet, Texas was preparing to vote on a radical bill that would effectively outlaw abortions within their boarders. Senator Wendy Davis came in early in the morning with the expressed intent of filibustering: The goal being to delay the critical vote.Wendy Davis talked for 11 hours straight. No food. No drinks. No bathroom breaks. She couldn't even pause for a moment to take a sip of water or else she'd give up the floor and the vote could get underway. 11 hours straight she talked and just before the midnight cutoff she was interrupted, and the vote began... only to become absolute pandemonium as the crowd watching protested the interruption. The GOP insists that the vote carried and passed, while the Democrats insist that they were still taking votes after the midnight cutoff thanks to the chaos that ensued. This is going to be one of those instances where the GOP are gonna try to lie and shove their way through our diplomatic

Late Lesson LearnedWhile doing research for the new SYAC, I actually stumbled upon something truthful on TVtropes.org. Usually I take everything from that site with a grain of salt, but this one bit actually was surprisingly honest and truthful about webcomics:Webcomics work on a very different set of standards than other fiction. Almost all webcomic authors are working pretty much entirely alone as they both draw and script their comics and most do not plan any further along than to the end of their current story sometimes not even that far. Many of them try to adhere to a schedule they aren't really capable of meeting, resulting in them rushing to meet their deadline and making mistakes that should be avoidable. So many of the good 10% lack qualities standard in traditionally professional works. This can be because of the lack of editorial input as well as the lack of lead time. Not all webcomics suffer from this, though, and even the ones that do can still be interesting. Arguably, some str
rant #9000 : misanthropesAs of late I've tried not to offend people on my deviantart (choosing to take my rather obnoxious opinions to my tumblr instead), but I haven't done a rant post on my journal here in quite a while and as such felt it was... well, about damn time.Fact : A dislike or hatred for something, be it an object, an individual, a group of people, a continent, or a galaxy, does not give you superiority over it.This is not to say that there are not instances in which it is okay to take the moral high ground over a group of other people (such as pedophiles, rapists, people who don't turn off their mobiles at the cinema...). I'm merely pointing out that the act of hatred does not give you instant superiority. For instance, as an individual, I really dislike eating strong cheese. I just don't like the taste all that much; however, that doesn't give me a license to in turn feel like I'm better than people who do enjoy eating strong cheeses. That was kind of a ridiculous example, but, well...
